Do I have to pay for the SmartCloud service?

Yes, there is a subscription fee for each of the three SmartCloud service plans:

* “Activity-based recordings” are video clips that SmartCloud records when it detects activity, as opposed to continuous cloud recording (Cloud DVR).
** “Cloud DVR” is continuous recording of your camera’s feed. “Number of days stored” refers to the number of days of the most recent recording that will be available in the cloud for user access and management. The user has the option to disable DVR function. The Starter Plan does not include Cloud DVR.
‡Plans for additional cameras are discounted by 50%.

Of course, you’ll start with a free 15-day Starter Plan trial. You can upgrade to the Essential or Elite plans or cancel your subscription at any time. If you cancel your subscription, you can still use SmartCam (the free service that comes with your Samsung SmartCam) but you won’t have access to Cloud DVR (Cloud Recording) or SmartCloud Zones.

    We regret to inform you that the SmartCloud service, a paid subscription for cloud storage of recorded events, will be permanently discontinued effective July 1, 2020, 12:00 AM (Eastern Standard Time). Starting May 15, 2020, we will no longer accept new subscriptions. If you are a subscription-based customer, you may no longer renew your plan after June 1, 2020. You will no longer be able to upload or store new events, videos, or data into the SmartCloud server after your subscription permanently ends.

    Although the cloud service will no longer be available, you can still record your videos onto a microSD card. For D1 doorbell users, you have the option to upload to your Google Drive account.
